SnowboardSecrets.com caught up with Seth while he was brushing his teeth (seriously) back in November, and spent some time talking Sugarloaf and SBX. They posted the interview to YouTube last week. Check it out:
What does Seth do when it dumps 2 feet at Sugarloaf? He slays pow, rips laps on the Quad, and tracks down freshies just like you and me. Today's he's on a flight to Austria for the next World Cup stop, where he'll try to lock down his spot on the Olympic team. Check back soon for an update from the man himself. Until then, check out some pics from yesterday.
Tomorrow marks the start of Sugarloaf's annual Homecoming Weekend, and Seth will be around to join in the festivities. He'll be hosting a showing of one of his movies, Play Gravity, in the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel starting at 6pm on Saturday evening. If you've never heard of Play Gravity, you're not alone. It never really made it into the mainstream ski/snowboard movie culture, but it's certainly more than worthy, with a fairly lengthy segment featuring Seth descending some Alaskan mountains.
But the most incredible segments in the movie have to be the unbelievable footage of athletes combining paragliding with skiing and snowboarding, descending faces that would truly be unrideable without the aid of a parachute.
So come on out tomorrow night, check out this incredible movie, and say hi to Seth.
Here are a couple of photos from the movie:

Leaving the access road at 4am on the dot I beat the first rays of sun to the fourth floor of the parking garage at the Portland Jetport. Portland was just lighting up and the sliver of the moon that had hung over my drive had just disappeared..
It had been a quick turn around to the valley and back to the airport after last weekend's World Cup in Argentina. Two nights in my own bed, 54 holes of golf and it was back to the road for a night to fly down to Dallas for a fundraiser for USSA. Here it comes, that hectic pace of a preolympic fall. It was reading 32 degrees this morning on the dashboard of the VW as I sped through the early morning. It's coming everyone.. It won't be long..
It takes a lot to become an Olympian, including tremendous amounts of training, even during the offseason. During the summer months Seth spends lots of time in the weight room, on his bike, paddling on his surf board, and apparently standing on top of a giant blue ball. Most of us would have trouble just sitting on one of these, but Seth jumps on top of it and then does four sets of 100 squats.
On top of a ball! Check out the video and see for yourself. More training videos coming next week. (pardon the lousy audio)

Part two of Seth's spring AK trip, featuring lots of helmet cam footage. Muy bueno.

As promised, here's some crazy footage from Seth's spring trip to Alaska. Not a bad way to cap off a World Cup season. Part two is coming later this week, so stay tuned...

Preparing for the Olympics is a busy and unrelenting process, that involves many, many things. But from what we can ascertain, the two most important are without a doubt:
-
1. Endless amounts of year round training, day in and day out
-
2. Lots and lots of photo shoots
After photo shoots earlier this summer in LA and Tremblant, Seth spent this past weekend in NYC with none other than Lyndsey Vonn, shooting photos for the cover art on Sega's next winter olympics video game. Pretty cool stuff. He'll rack up some more frequent flier miles next weekend when he travels to Whistler in BC for more (you guessed it) photo shoots. This is all before the training starts to get more intense, with a quick trip to Argrentina with US Snowboarding in August.
In the meantime, Seth managed to work in some time on the golf course here at Sugarloaf today as part of the Health Care Classic to benefit the Franklin Memorial Hospital. He offered his services as a sort of designated hitter as it were, hitting a fifth drive for scramble teams on the tenth hole. Seth hit a few rockets down the center of the fairway, but also launched his fair share off into the trees too (at least his golf game is human). He also got up close and personal with some of the local wildlife....
